It’s encouraging that while many businesses in our community are feeling the impact of COVID-19, they are still finding ways to collaborate and assist where it is needed most. Our goal is to spotlight businesses who are members of the Mentor, Willoughby Western Lake County, Eastern Lake County, and Chardon chambers that are employing innovative ways to engage customers and give back to the community.
Today, we focus on Clean Eatz, and how the company is supporting the medical teams at our hospitals who are tirelessly working to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Clean Eatz Mentor
The saying, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” has definite meaning when it comes to Anna and Michael Dey, Mentor chamber members and owners of Clean Eatz in Mentor. When they were approached by friend, Jolene Santee, founder of Operation Hope Prevails, a non-profit created in response to the pandemic to show support and appreciation to healthcare workers on the front lines, they were happy to share the company’s resources.
Operation Hope Prevails coordinates, through volunteers, the ordering, pick up and drop off of meals to local hospitals to help feed the busy medical professionals. Along with other partnering restaurants, Clean Eatz donates or discounts the meals. As Anna told us, “Local businesses and individuals in our community are donating to Hope Prevails to make these orders possible.”
At first, Clean Eatz donated 30 meals for the ICU staff at University Hospitals Geauga Campus, as well as an additional 20 meals for their Environmental Services/Housekeeping staff. Then, they received a call from Liberty Mutual Insurance in Mentor, who wanted to make a donation of their own. Clean Eatz worked with Liberty Mutual Insurance to provide 90 meals for nurses at Tri-Point Medical Center in Concord. As word got out about the work that Operation Hope Prevails was doing spread, even more people began making individual donations. Anna told us, “ we’ve seen so much generosity from our staff members and several of our regular customers.”
Currently, Clean Eatz has provided over 300 meals to front line healthcare workers and Hope Prevails just surpassed 1,000 total meals!
“The most incredible part of this, is what a collaborative effort it has been,” said Anna. “The medical professionals we are feeding are showing up to work every day to keep our community safe.” she added.
There are numerous local businesses who have donated to Operation Hope Prevails and because of that, Clean Eatz is still getting orders for meals and is currently offering them with a 20% discount. Clean Eatz Mentor is proud to be a small piece of the puzzle.
