Frequently Asked Questions
About Collision Repair

Where do I start after I have been in an accident?

If you have been involved in an auto accident, the first step is to call your insurance agent. Your insurance agent will take a report and then issue a claim number. Your next call should be to D&S Automotive. We can assist with towing, rental cars, providing accident report forms, and any other collision repair concerns you might have.

Is it possible to request an estimate over the phone or the internet?

Every accident is different. D&S Automotive needs to personally inspect your vehicle closely to accurately complete an estimate.

Do I need an appointment?

It is not necessary to make an appointment. However, it can shorten your wait time. To schedule an appointment, please call (888) 625-3736.

Do I need to get more than one estimate?

No. If an insurance company asks you to get more than one estimate, let them know that D&S Automotive will be performing the repairs on your vehicle. Your insurance company is welcome to send an adjustor to examine the vehicle at the shop.

If an insurance company sends an adjustor to your home or office, and provides an estimate, we will repair the vehicle according to their estimate. If necessary, we will contact the insurance company directly should an additional supplement be needed.

How long does it take to get an estimate, and what is the charge?

Estimates are free! You can expect a comprehensive review of the damage to be completed in 15-30 minutes.

Where do I get a claim number?

Claim numbers are issued by the insurance company when you report the accident. If you need help in obtaining a claim number, we will be happy to assist you.

Can I take my car where I choose to have it repaired?

Yes, in Ohio you have the right to have your car repaired at the shop of your choosing. Many insurance companies have specific shops they regularly work with, and receive a discounted rate as part of their agreement. You do not have to agree to work with that shop, even if the insurance company tells you "they can't guarantee the work," or tell you "it will cost you extra if you take the car elsewhere".

We have well established relationships with all major insurance companies, and as such we can reassure you that you will never have to pay an additional charge.

How long will it take to repair my car?

Based on the damage estimate, we can accurately provide a completion date. Please keep in mind that once we are able to disassemble your vehicle, it is not uncommon to discover hidden damage. Should that happen, we will notify you immediately and inform you of any scheduled completion changes.

Our primary goal is to return the vehicle to you as quickly as possible without compromising the quality of the repair.

Will I have to pay a deductible?

A deductible is your agreed upon portion of a repair that was determined when you purchased your policy. Whether or not you are responsible for a deductible depends on your policy and who was at fault. Your deductible may be different depending on the type of accident, for example, collision or comprehensive. Contact your insurance agent to find out your deductible amount.

When do I pay my deductible?

Your deductible is paid directly to D&S Automotive when repairs are complete and you pick up your vehicle.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash and all major credit cards.

Is there a warranty on the repairs to my vehicle?

Yes, we are so confident in our workmanship and the materials we use that we guarantee the repair for as long as you own your vehicle.
